I just completed my first blog about technology. Actually when I started my blog I was hoping to blog technology too. However I soon realized the vanity of technology. By the time I decide to write on some topic and finish writing it the topic is outdated. So almost always (except today) I never get to blog technology.
Those who know the happenings in IT would know that Microsoft is getting ready to release MOSS 2010. (For those of you who do not understand this acronym, it stands for the latest Microsoft SharePoint release)
In my office some guys are really excited. One guy spends sleepless nights playing around with the beta version. All he talks these days is how cool MOSS 2010 is. Especially he compares it to MOSS 2007 and points out how inadequate MOSS 2007 is and how cool MOSS 2010 is. I am sure there are plenty of guys like him who are excited about MOSS 2010, Visual Studio 2010 and Microsoft .NET 4.0 at the moment.
However if you go down the memory lane you would discover that these same folks were excited about MOSS 2007 (comparing it’s greatness with WSS), Visual Studio 2008 etc very recently. For these folks MOSS 2007 doesn’t apple any longer as it was when it was released but now their passion is MOSS 2010. In a couple of years they would lose interest in MOSS 2010 and would have a list of “issues” with MOSS 2010 and would be singing praises of maybe MOSS 2012.
The same applies to fashion where 80s fashion is back again. In short everything that we see around us has this problem. Even medical science has such similar problems. A couple of years ago they said that BBQed meat is good for health than traditional cook meat. Now they say that BBQ beef can cause cancer. They said a glass of wine a day is good for your health but a week ago I read that research show that consuming a glass of wine to relieve stress has great ill effects.
I can go on like this or else I can just quote what a wise man said 3,000 years ago.
Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher; vanity of vanities, all is vanity.
That which hath been is that which shall be; and that which hath been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
Is there a thing whereof men say, See, this is new? it hath been already, in the ages which were before us. (Ecclesiastes 1:2,9,10)
But he didn’t stop with a sad note. Look at his conclusion.
This is the end of the matter; all hath been heard: fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:13,14)
Why? Because…
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God (Psalm 90:2)
Yes God is the same always. Everything else is vanity.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
Jesus Christ said: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my [Jesus Christ’s] words shall not pass away. (Mt 24:35)
That is why I decided to write eternal things. Eternal things are not outdated. I can write an article about God for months and post it after years but still it would be relevant. The Holy Bible is relevant today the same way it was for thousands of years.
If you accept Christ Jesus into your heart and acknowledge that He died for your sins and He only can give you assurance of sins forgiven and freedom from sin then you will receive Everlasting Life.
My advice for all you technology freaks (and to everyone reading this title) is to go to the Holy Bible. It contains things that do not change but remains forever.
